Thrift & Treasures Store Closes September 29, 2007
While the Stanford Home for Children's Thrift and Treasures store has provided our families and community a resource for needed supplies and goods, as stewards to the organization we recognize that the Thrift and Treasures store is no longer a sustainable vehicle for us to serve our families and clients. The store has been in operation for four years, and has faced increased financial pressures, prompting us to make the decision to close the store.
We appreciate the dedication of the Thrift and Treasures staff and their efforts to make the store a resource for Stanford Home and the community. The staff have been part of ongoing discussions around this move, and we are providing assistance to staff to find new employment and support them in their future endeavors.
We are currently developing plans to make our "scratch and dent" furniture available for sale to the general public and as a resource to clients at our vehicle donation site. We look forward to being able to continue to support families with material resources to help them build stronger and safer homes.
