Stanford Home - Community Protection and Treatment Program

Community Protection and Treatment Programs safely supervise youth in the community while providing services that increase offender competency and strengthen family relationships. Community Protection and Treatment Programs serve as an alternative to a sentence at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center. Community protection is achieved through intensive supervision by probation officers. Using the principles of restorative justice, increased offender competency and strengthened family relationships are achieved through offender skill-building groups (empathy development, anger management, and substance abuse), individualized family-based skill-building problem-solving meetings, and parent/caregiver education and support. The program serves youth who have been determined appropriate to serve their commitment in their home, with intensive supervision and community-based services, rather than in a detention facility. The population consists of both girls and boys ranging in age from 12-18.
