Stanford Home's Vocational Services helps prevent homelessness by equipping our youth and adults with job training and supervised job placement: critical components of success for independent living and sustaining employment. Stanford Home prepares at-risk youth for their first career, not just their first job. We provide prevocational and vocational skills training and career preparation for at risk youth, older siblings and adults through an array of individualized services.
Vocational Training Can Change Lives
Armed with the proper vocational skills, at-risk youth stand a much better chance of thriving throughout adulthood. More than a job referral system, Stanford Home’s Vocational Services program provides one-on-one mentoring so that every youth is personally coached before, during, and after each job assignment. From the first interview to the final evaluation, Stanford Home works in partnership with the youth and the employer to ensure that expectations are met and objectives achieved.
Show Your Support and Help Save a Future
A relationship with your business can offer the hope and guidance these kids need to become contributing members of the community. Like many employers, you may even discover a talented, dedicated staff member you’ll want to retain for many years to come.
Jobs – Whether it’s a short-term internship, assessment opportunity, or long-term job, we’ll match your position to the ideal candidate and handle all the paperwork. During assessment periods we even cover liability costs, and pay the employee’s salary for you! Stanford Home provides on-site job coaching to ensure the individual you hire meets your work expectations. You may even discover that by hiring our youth, your company will qualify for tax credits.
Financial Support – Fifty youth in our care are waiting for funding to pay for vocational services. Your donations can be used to provide their pre-vocational classroom training, life skills development, job development, workplace experience, professional clothing, uniforms, haircuts, grooming items, transportation, and more. Make a corporate donation or conduct a fundraiser with staff. For every $5,000 we raise, we can provide vocational training and placement for one youth.
Volunteers – Help is always needed to conduct mock interviews, provide mentorship or job shadowing, and run business training. Volunteer and learn personally how you can inspire a teen to succeed.
With your help, we can all work together to create a promising future for our youth. If you are interested in partnering with Stanford Home's Vocational Services or have questions regarding the program, please contact our Vocational Services Manager, Amber, at aeubanks@stanfordhome.org or 916.344.0199.
Stanford Home would like to thank the following for their contributions to our Vocational Services program:
“I would definitely host another internship in the future. I was fully impressed by our candidate’s maturity and great enthusiasm about the job. He was better prepared than most applicants prior to his interview. He already had his work permit, workers compensation coverage, internship paperwork, California ID Card, and Social Security Card. He was prepared with questions, professionally dressed, and ready to work. All of us greatly enjoyed watching him grow during his internship. We look forward to welcoming more Stanford Home students into the Clear Channel Family soon!”
